Number Format

Overview

BA Calculator has two formats: the regular format and the scientific format. The regular format has “,” as the thousand separator. The scientific format has the decimal part before the letter “E” and the power of 10 after “E”.

Any number with an absolute value between 0.000000001 (billionth) and 10,000,000,000 (10 billion) will display as the regular format.

Any number with an absolute value under 0.000000001 (billionth) or over 10,000,000,000 (10 billion) will display as the scientific format.

Example 1

Calculate 9,999,999,999 + 1,234,567,890.

Steps:

9,999,999,999 + 1,234,567,890 =

Result: 1.123456789E10

Note the maximum number of decimal points allowed before “E” is 9.

What is the square of 0.00005678?

Steps:

0.00005678 x2 =

Result: 3.223968400E-11
